When you buy any kind of vehicle, it’s important to have at least a ballpark figure in mind when it comes to how much you’ll spend on ownership costs. Electric trucks offer many benefits over other types of trucks, including zero emissions and less pollution, but you’ll still want to have an idea of how much you can expect to spend on maintenance, power, and other costs.

Sticker Price

The sticker price of an electric truck can vary widely, but you can anticipate spending more than you would for a gas or diesel truck. This may change soon, as electric truck demand increases and the technology improves. It may be possible to obtain a tax benefit for purchasing an all-electric truck, too!

Fuel

When you buy a fully electric truck, you won’t have to spend any money on gasoline or diesel fuel, nor will you have to concern yourself with oil changes, since the engine is battery-powered. This saves you a pretty penny on fuel! Charging up your electric truck’s battery won’t cost very much; typically only a few dollars per charge, and this can be reduced by charging the battery at night.

Maintenance

Due to their less complex engines, electric trucks cost much less to maintain than their gas or diesel counterparts. You won’t have to change the oil or fuss with an exhaust system or buy a lot of filters. The brakes may also see less wear and tear. The one cost you do have to worry about is replacing the battery, which may cost around $10,000 when it does wear out.
